Purify My Heart

Who is God?

Exodus 1-3:
God is compassionate and hears the cries of His people. God uses the weak. God is a provider.
Psalm 24: Everything is under the control of God. He is mighty and glorious and only those who are righteous can stand in His presence.
Acts 15:22-41: God used the leadership that Jesus set in place to display is desire for all people to come to Him.
Matt 10:21-42:
Jesus was despised and hated by some. He was persecuted and put to death. Jesus instructs his disciples that the same will happen to them.

How do I enjoy Him?

I know that God hears the cries of His people. He isn’t some distant God that is untouchable or doesn’t listen to His people. But we see in Psalm 24 that only the righteous stand in His presence. I think there is the meaning that those who are made righteous will dwell with God in heaven one day, but I think there is a greater meaning than that. I think those who have “clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to what is false and does not swear deceitfully,” grow closer and nearer to God. This is only done through the strength of God’s Holy Spirit purifying our hearts with the work of Christ. Therefore to draw closer to God and to enjoy Him more I need Christ to purify my heart daily. He is the only one who can purify me.

My goal for today is to spend some time having the Holy Spirit purify my heart before God.
